Subject line: Find Your Dog's Perfect Groomer This Spring

Preheader: New groomers near you, expert tips, and our Spring Shedding guide is almost here.

Welcome to the Dog Groomer Locator Newsletter

Hi there,

Whether your pup is due for a trim or you're searching for a new groomer after a move, we're here to make the hunt easy. Each issue brings you practical grooming tips, fresh listings in our directory, and seasonal guides to keep your dog looking and feeling their best.

Let's dig in.

5 Grooming Tips Every Dog Owner Should Know

1. Brush before the bath, not after.
Wet fur mats tighter. Always brush out tangles and loose undercoat before getting your dog wet. A slicker brush works for most breeds; a de-shedding rake is worth it for double-coated dogs.

2. Trim nails more often than you think.
Most dogs need a nail trim every 3–4 weeks. If you hear clicking on hardwood floors, you're already behind. Overgrown nails force dogs to walk on their "knuckles," which strains joints over time.

3. Check the ears at every grooming session.
Lift the ear flap and look for redness, odor, or dark discharge. Floppy-eared breeds (Cocker Spaniels, Basset Hounds, Poodles) are especially prone to yeast and bacteria buildup. A gentle wipe with a vet-approved ear cleaner goes a long way.

4. Use dog-specific shampoo β€” always.
Human shampoos, even "gentle" ones, are formulated for a skin pH of 5.5. A dog's skin sits around pH 7.5. Using human products strips their natural oils and can cause dryness, itching, and flaking. Your vet or groomer can recommend the right formula for your dog's coat type.

5. Don't skip the "sanitary trim" between professional visits.
The fur around eyes, paws, and hindquarters grows fast and mats easily. A small pair of rounded-tip scissors and a few minutes every two weeks keeps things tidy β€” and reduces the time (and cost) at your next grooming appointment.
